Pointers
As a child I spent alot of time with my Aunties german shorthaired pointers and after watching several HPR grouse trials and then pointer and setter stakes I decided that I wanted to have a go at working a pointer. I started off with a german shorthaired pointer bitch who unfortunately damaged her shoulder and was rehomed as a pet. I then bought another german shorthaired pointer bitch who was extremely noisey in the kennel, something I can't stand. So then I opted for an english pointer and bought a trained dog from renowed pointer judge and trainer Peter O'Driscoll. I had fun with Archie and did several pointer days with him, even featuring in a 3 page article in the Shooting Times!
Bitten by the bug, pointer work is my 'time off'. My partner has 4 german pointers so it is difficult to get away from them! I have now got an english pointer bitch, Rona who I have done a few pointer days with so far and she has proved to be a good game finder and steady.
